Message from Richard Bracken, HCA President and COO

HCA’s 14 transplant centers are undoubtedly some of the best in the nation. The employees at these facilities are witness to the miracle of transplantation and the critical need for organ, tissue, marrow and blood donation. The stories these employees recount and the wonders they witness are nothing short of phenomenal; the numbers alone tell the story. Before you and I retire to bed each night, 16 people die waiting for a transplant that does not come. Over 82,000 children and adults are on a waiting list. Just one organ and tissue donor can help up to 50 people. The need is far greater than the supply.

For these reasons, HCA firmly believes in supporting donor awareness. In March of last year, HCA became a Workplace Partner for Life, a campaign initiated to encourage companies to build awareness for voluntary organ, tissue, marrow and blood donations. To encourage the promotion of donor awareness within all HCA-affiliated facilities, this website was created. I hope you will utilize this site to share your ideas, download tools for your facility’s campaign and read how members of our HCA family have been affected by transplantations. It is our hope that with increased awareness, more individuals can make informed decisions about such an important issue.
